Can somebody teach me how to post using Tamil fonts? Please list the softwares needed to be downloaded also. Where to download from? Any free versions, etc, etc...

Narayanan,
You need to use the tag "TSCII" not "TSC".

The responses above are not clear to me. I shall be grateful if anyone can explain clearly about downloading tamil fonts.

aRivoLi: In anjal2000, they have a separate
pack that gives murasu editor. The download page
says something about separating it. But I did not
down load it so I dont know if the other code
pack actually contains the old style murasu editor.
I think the reason why they separated murasu editor is because now, anjal 2000 uses dynamic
fonts and it will work with ANY html editor.
For example, I am using netscape's composer
html editor. There I am able to type control-tilda
and then I can type in my usual transliterated
way and tamil letters appear directly. So there
is no need for the editor.
I am not able to type in tamil directly in this
form posting window. But I am going to use netscape
composer to write something in tamil
and then I'll cut and paste it here along with
font tags.

rOshan:
1. Go to www.murasu.com and download anjal2000
software pack and install it. The installation will ask permission to run anjal at start up.
Allow it to run from the startup.
2. Use any html editor and open a new document.
Use the hot key control-tilde (~) to switch from
English keyboard to transliterated tamil keyboard.
After typing control ~ as you type you will see
tamil letters coming on the screen. The translitration scheme is described in elaborate
detail in previous postings.
3. While cutting and pasting from the netscape
composer window to the posting window please add
font tags. Please do a view source of this page
and see the font tags before and after the
venbaa I have posted in the previous posting.
The font tags:
tamil words.

'i's won't show up if you are using M.S.Explorer 5.0
The old raa,Raa,naa,Naa,n-aa etc are all obsolete.
They have been in oblivion for a long time now!**
We all have to use the oficial
"sIrthiruththappatta thamiz ezuththukkaL" aka
as the "PeriyAr ezuththukkaL"

The only person, even in the mass Tamil media
that stuck to the "old" Raas' etc was Sri.Cho
Ramasamy! But his highness has agreed to switch
over to the "siirthiruththappatta ezuththukkaL" !

a FYI to all those folks that are interested in writing in Tamil.
"As the newer version of Murasu 2000 doesn't seem to support Inaimathi or Inaikathir, its better if we all use TSCII to write in Tamil.
In other words, if some one writes in Murasu Anjal using Inaimathi and not in TSCII using Inaimathi TSc or other Tscs' the Murasu Anjal 2000 users won't be able to read those writings..."
We can still read the non Tscii Anjal writings by using the older 2.02 versions. To do that we have to close the 2000 version first & then go back and open the 2.02.

I have a problem with InaikathirTSC.
I am able to use the transliterated roman
keyboard and it works with inaikathir.
But if I start using inaimathitsc font it
expects me to use some old tamil keyboard
and I cant type. Is it possible to use transliteration with inaimathiTSC?
How?

I love those old letters too. I thought that they had a classical touch. :-(

There isn't an InaikathirTSC.I bet you meant
InaimathiTSC.
Whats' your web browser & under what platform
are you working...win 95 or 98.
btw
You do not need to use InaimathiTSC to write
in Tamil tSCII.Anyone of the TSCII fonts from
http://www.tamil.net/tscii will do.

OK some experiments. here. Downloaded and
installed murasu anjal 2000. Now I am able to
use transliteration keyboard, which I am very
comfortable with and generate tamil characters.
Let me see if this works. The following is
generated in Anjal mailer. I set the encoding
to be TSCII. Typed something. Added font tags
to be inaimathiTSC.
