Why should gals not discuss Sujatha.
On a serious note Sujatha is an intelligent writer and interesting. he has evolved over a period but sometimes you feel he goes wrong in charecterisations. His females barring one come out as cutouts( J varaintha cut outs)
One thing though Vasanth still retains his freshness. Yavanikavil kooda athey thullal irukku.

I like the word "thullal". Yes its still very much there in Mr Srirangam SR.
Though branded as a commercial writer by the "arivu jeevis" of the contemporary tamil literature world he still tries (!!) to bridge the gap.
Used to read all his " last pages" in kanaiyazhi. Honestly he introduced me to some of the best of the business in both tamil and english fiction.
But trying to revive "kumudham" is too much.. :-)

Yup He gave up kumudham. But going there itself is sort of compromising your efforts for money. :-)
Anyways still whenever i read "arasu" padhilgal i doubt whether it is sujatha ..!!!

no arasu is not sujatha. sujatha is far too intelligent to show his jollu publicly. it is the kumudam editorial team of annamalai (a) rangarajan raa ki (ra) & sundaresan jaa raa(su) who formed arasu. now with annamalai no more & rangarajan leaving kumudam for good may be it is priya kalyanasundaram at al pretending to be arasu.

I don't think so...when most writers approach any subject from their own point-of view, Sujatha is probably the only one who writes things as they are. His characters let you see them as they truly appear- not as another person's interpretation. He's far and away the best in this area, I think.

it is good that atleast now u guys r taking on sujatha. he is a living legend. if you see his earlier works (1975~1985), they actually brought a new dimension in writing.
it is not only in short stories but also in essays, novels. now he is the only one who is writing about almost everything.
his book "internet" only introduced net for us who r living 300 kms. from chennai. he actully tries to bring up the reader from his current level.

we are suffering for "thannikum nalla katthukkum" which he has explored very well 25 yeras before in his story "vigjana siru kadhaigal".
He has also indicated about the space management due to population in the same story.

i am from srirangam. after reading Sujatha's stories my love for the place increased. one can not be in that place without thinking about him.
i am lured and i think with awe of the people in SRGM.
my son started reading tamil novels after getting his "initiation" from reading Sujatha.

actually i had seen drama srirangathu devaitagal actually after seeing that only i tour to srirangam one of the beutiful place i ever seen thanks for your beutiful narration and taking actually i want to read that story in the written form my father is a greatest fan of yours thank you for your intellectual thinking and beutiful narration long live sujatha alias rangarajan and let continue your service to your society one film boys wont let your pride down so nobody can beat your intelligence and basically a iyengar actually my father used to tell about manavalamamanigal from your narration only you too live for 1000 years

Sujatha as a writer is extremely popular due to his style, approach and way of thinking. He always writes well, hoping that other writers can not improve the presentation. His Sasi Kathirukkiral, Nylon Kayiru, Karayellam Senbagappu, Kanavu Thozhirchalai, Sci-fi stories, Nagaram, Paalam short stories,all the Srirangam based stories, etc are remarkable because Sujatha toiled for the same. He is constantly renewing himself and that is the secret of his enduring popularity.
