Chandra, always wanted to ask you this...why are you using 'sa' instead of 'ja' while writting in Tamil, vijay, becomes visai, jaya (JB) becomes seya ;-)) (is it your way of tamilazation of Sanskrit word? if so why?)
Just curious, and probably learn one or two in that cents.

Tholkaappiyam mentions about Vadasol. There are ways in which Sanskrit words can be Tamilised or written in Tamil without the useage of Tamil Grantha characters.
It was already in practice during the Sanggam times.
"Prahastha' becomes 'Pirakaththan'.
' Kaundinya' becomes "KavuNiyan ViNNandhaayan'.
Sankskrit becomes Sangadham.
Lakshmanan becomes Ilakkuvan. Kishkinda becomes Kitkindhai. Garuda becomes kalzhulan. Ikshvaku becomes Ikkuvagu. And Vishnu becomes VittuNu.

Chandra,
Hasn't the word Jayam been in Tamil for thousands of years. In old tamil was it written as jeyam or seyam? When did we first get alphabets for ja, sha, ha?

Ok. dont think there is going to be a final say in this, but I think (IMHO)could we agree with,
akku == body (akku <--angkam??)
anni == bones
Since we know the meaning of the phase is 'paathi paathiyaga pirikirathu'
SO doesnt it makes sense to say that taking the bones (anni) out of the body (akku)into pieces

But then again, in Tamil fractions we have words such as:
mummaakaanni

araikkaanni
In that sense could anni mean half (pieces)??
But akku also means, half too, right, since we use to say, 'akku akkuai kalutiyachi'
I'm getting confuse now... ;-((
