Is there any connection in their meanings between ChengOdu and Naagaachalam.

They are not synonyms. Unrelated in meaning.
KOdu and achalam mean hill, peak, or mountain.
Naga and Chemmai don't click.
Different origins.

Sikaa maNi is placed at the very top.

You know.....that 'naalu kavi' thing that I wrote.
I just wrote it from memory.
:-)
I am not in my hometown. But writing from the country's capital.
I don't have my reference books with me.
So I just had to give it a hip shot.
But I never had any fear.
Because, MadhuraBharathi is a poet in his own right. And Ananth also is around.
They would catch me if I go wrong:-)

When Ardhanaari heard the words -
'singgaara ruupa mayil vaakanaa namO nama' - he lost himself totally.
They aroused something deep within him.
And that was an important turning point in Ardhanaari's life.

There was one man in Palzani called 'agni kaavadi braammanan'. He had a young son called MaNi. Ardhanaari approached him asked him teach him how to read. Ardhanari was almost forty years of age at that time. MaNi was only twelve.
But Ardhanaari stooped dwon to learn the two 'R's.
Soon Ardhanaari could spell each word and read slowly.
Immediately he got hold of Thiruppugalz songs and read them and tried to memorise them.

The SwamigaL started reciting whatever Thiruppugalz that he could.
But he was told that Thirupugalz should not be mispronounced and should not be recited with mistakes.
So he searched around and finally placed an order for a properly printed edition which contained the first 150 songs.
Within one month, he memorised all the 150 songs.
He used to sing the songs during abhishekams and ardha jaama pujais.
He also went deeply into Hatha Yoga practices.

Then a very important turn took place.
PalzaniyaaNdavar appeared in his dream asked him to bring water from the KalyaaNa thiirththam for his abhishekam.
KalyaaNa thiirththam was in Paapanaasam in Thirunelveli district, a distance of 200 miles. The way to go was also shown to him in his dream.
He also appeared in the dreams of several other people and told them to give money to the SwamigaL for his expenses.
They came to the SwamigaL in the morning and gave him sum that was stipulated in the dream.
The SwamigaL took a vow of silence and wrote out his mission on a cardboard which he slung from his neck.
Thus he walked to during the night to Dindukal. A temple priest was seen to be walking in front of him. The distance between them always remained about 20 feet, however fast or slow the SwamigaL walked. During the predawn hours, the priest vanished. When the day broke, a Devadasi who saw the card-board, read it and immediately gave milk and fruits as food.
He took a train and went to Madurai. He received some more money from a NattukkOttai Chettiyar who was riding a white horse.
With that, he reached Thenkaasi by train.
From here, PalzaniyaaNdavar, in the form of a Dhakshinaamuurthi paradesi, led the way.
He reached a place called 'uththara vaahini'.
The scenario of a sand dune and a Murugan temple near the bottom of a hill that he saw in his dream, was there.
He took the water in a wrong place by mistake and started back. When he reached Thenkaasi, the water spilled.
So he retraced his foot steps and went back and was guided to the correct place by the Dhakshinamuurthi paradesi. He took the water in a copper vessel. He put a banana flower over its top as a sort of lid and carried it back.
On the way back, he was way-laid by robbers. But when they saw the card-board, they paid homage to him and received vibhuthi from him and sent him of with respect.
When he was hungry, a cow which used to kick but never gave milk , suddenly gave milk that the SwamigaL drank.
He walked all the way back, without laying down the pot on the ground. There was one occassion that he had to swim across a river with the pot on his head.
In four days time, he reached Palzani and gave the water for ardhajaama abhishekam on Friday.
He started on his journey on a Wednesday and reached Kalyaana Thirtham on Saturday. Then he walked back and reached Palzani on Friday.

During the time that he was at Palzani, SwamigaL was doing this kainggaryam - service for PalzaniyaaNdavar, several times.
Some of them were done entirely on foot.
Palzani and Podhiya Malai are associated with the same mountain range. Palzani is an outspur.
So the SwamigaL used to take short cuts along the foot hills and jungle paths.
There was also another factor.
