Very few poets can touch/inspire/electrify readers like Mahakavi Bharathiyar(MB) can.He can take you to heights of patriotism/romance/devotion in just a few beautiful words. I would like his fans to share the line that moved/thrilled you most and explain why, in what context. Please quote the entire line/stanza so your kindred souls can share the pleasure.
I find the foll lines in "Oli padaitha" very moving " Sirumai kandu ponguvai va va va.. Elimai kandu iranguvai va va va". I feel that apathy to corruption and pettiness(sirumai) and indifference to others' suffering (elimai) is what plagues India most and MB has hit the nail on the head in wanting these in the future Bharatham

The line "Avar chintaiyil ayiram ennam valarndu sirandadum innaade" is another line in "Enthaiyum tayum magizhndu" - one can imagine MB referring to all the great works India has produced in the past centuries.

I liked this one "Kooli mihak ketppaan kodutthadhellam thaan marappaan - velai mihu vaiththirunthaal veettile thanghiduvaan... engirundho vanthaan idaichaadhi naanendran ..." this verse really showed Mahaakavi's psychology of workers. I do love him because he lives forever in our mind to lead us further.

A very intersting thread,
For me I like the courage that has been portrayed in the verses.
Akkini Kunju ondru kanden,
Athai aanagoor kattinile ponthilidai vaithen,
Venthu thaninthathu kaadu, thazhal
veerathil kunju endrum moopu endrum undo.
What a great message. The need for that courage, boldness against misdeeds is also reflected in his Puthiya AAthi choodi.
"Rowthiram Pazhagu". Thats' the message needed for the current generation.
A romantic feeling could not be captured better than the verse " Siinan chiru kiliye Kannamma"
....
Uchi thanai mugarthaal karvam oongi valurauthadi.,
Mechi unai oorrar pugazhnthaal, meni silirkuthadi,
The notation "kalveri" used in
"kannathil Mutham ittal ullam thaan kalveri Kolluthadee"
itself is a beautiful kavithai.
What a maan. Really a divine being.

I like,nay love Bharathi"s poem Akkinikkunjonru--
Believe me,when once I was in deep SUP> meditation
was in ecstacy and he narrated KUNDALINI FIRE
in poetic form.He meant a small KUN.fire ball
he found and enjoyed spread vividly around him
engulfed him.He was immersed in that FIRE OCEAN
and danced and danced. At the same time
all his desires fulfilled. Then he was in PEACE
--PERANANDAM- which can not be described but
TO BE ENJOYED. ENNA PURIGHIRATHA?-Pl.tell your
opinion on this,my dear poet FRINDS!
Thanks,
VEDHAM.

Great to read all your responses
I think "Chinnanjiru kiliye" is about love for a child, not romance.
One of the lesser-known verses in that goes
"Inba kathaigal ellam - unnaipol
yedugal solvathundo? "
Anyone who has heard a beloved child narrate a story will know what that means.

You can say I'm crazy about this devine poet.I'm at a loss of words to describe how great a poet, journalist and a patriot he was. What isolates him from others is, he was full of fire and at the same time full of compassion too. He's taught us to get angry and to fall in love! There never was and is and will be anyone like him.
What I most like in his poems is "Thedi Choru Nidham thindru, Pala Sinanjchiru Kadhaigal Pesi...
....Veezhum Vedikkai Manitharai Pol Naan Veezhvendru Ninaithayo!".The sad thing is,Indians and particularly tamilians are still living as what he called "Vedikkai Manidar"!

When he said "Indha maanilam payanura Vaazhvadharke" that 'indha' sounded very sensational. Some people praise Bharathiyar like "Thiththikkum senthamizhaal, dhesaabimaanam enum theeyai ootri, sakthi om jeya vandhemaatharam" - really a deep rooted one.

Bharathi found home in tamil language and tamilnadu to realize his full potential. He probably realized the emptiness in sanskrit slogas and rituals.

"nallathOr veeNai seythe athai nalankeda puzhuthiyil yervathuNdO?
solladi sivasakthi, yennai sudarmigum arivudan padaiththuvittaay.."
Expresses in essence the haunted nature of Bharathi when he was going through his addictions and difficulties in life. My opinion.
"theekkuL viralai vaithaal nandalaala
ninnai theeNDum inbam thoNuthada nandalaala"
is as mystic an experience of divinity as I have read.
Hi "vELvi thee" and "vacana kavithai" are both unique in his period. The nondi chinthu of "nenju porukkuthillaye intha nilaiketta manitharai ninaithuvittaal" is as valid today - even on this forum ;) - as when he wrote it.
