I heard from Rajinidotcom that Paandian Ran 125 dyas in Trichy. During that time i think you were in Trichy. Can you tell me is it correct? Which theater is it? or it ran in low class theater??

Kamal Fans,
I know that Rajini and Panju Arunachalam teamed together in may movies for production, screenplay, story, songs, etc. This team did very well and gave many hits.
How about Kamal and Panju Arunachalam? Can you all tell us more about this team.

Pandiyan released in Kalayarangam,Devar magan released in Maris70MM..Pandiyan ran around 70 days in kalayarangam ,after that I think it changed to second hand theatre Jubiter,may be it ran for some 40 days there..Devar magan crossed 100 days in maris 70 MM.

I think adhisayapiravi is one of very few flops of Rajini. Can Shadotcom confirm this? I may be wrong.

It is a common mistake made by lot of people that Kamal has following only amongst the class audiences. I remember when I was in school and college some fans of Rajini used to say all the low class (slum) people in Madras are all supporters of Rajini. I used to take them to slums around my place and low class dwellings near the theatres in Mount Road and show them all the Fans Association boards hanging. The boards for Kamal Haasan always used to outnumber Rajini's and that would shut them up. It is just that the fans of Rajini are more ostentatious than the fans of Kamal which makes people think that Kamal has no following amongst the low class or the B & C centers.
All the movies of Kamal after 1987 were of a different genre that typically appealed only to the city dwellers so the impression of only a class following was further cemented. Most people do not realize that Kamal has given some of the biggest hits in the history of tamil cinema. Plus Kamal is the only star who commands a sizeable following in all the other southern states and his movies do extremely well in those states as well.
I believe Raghu is not from TN and I always find his posting full of conjecture. Anyways my point is
Kamal Haasan = Class + Mass and everything in between as well

Raghu,
Naatuku Oru Nallavan is one of the worst Rajini film which ran only 1 month in Madras. Sri Ragavender also flopped but did better than Naatuku Oru Nallavan.
Tamizharasan,
We can't say Athisaya Piravi is a flop, it just didn't do well as expected. It ran 80 days in 4 theaters (Madras). But i am not sure whether it reached 100 days.

Thanks for your response. I think Panchu Arunachalam did story and dialogue for Singara Velan. Even though this movie didn't do well, i enjoyed the movie very much.

Undoubtedly shree raghavendra is one of the best films of Rajini. It was very unfortunate that it did not make into the box office

I was 14 years old when TTT was released and I have been a fan of Kamal since 1977. I can still remember as kids we used to have friendly karate fights and I will do my karate posture and say 'this is Madan style' (Kamal's dialogue from Aadu Puli Aatam)

Which period was that? Refering to early 80's??
2. Looking at your age, you should be a Kamal fan from the beginning. Then you should know more about facts about him??
3. Can you tell us also about your hometown and present place
4. Are you the moderator of Yahoo Kamalhassanfanclub?
5. In Yahoo Kamalhassanfanclub, in the file section, there is list of super hit Kamal movies in detail of theaters and breaking records. Where did u get those info?

1. Mid to late 80's. Till Oct 1989 when Kamal's fans association was called as Narpani Mandram, the number of mandrams of Kamal was around 400 to 500 more than Rajini's. Kamal's mandram was around 8000 or so at that time. After it became a Narpani Iyakkam, the growth of the Mandram was crippled. I doubt it has even crossed the 9000 mark in the last 14 years. Of course number of Mandrams for Rajini took off after 1990.
2. As I had mentioned I have been a fan of his for a long time. Started getting interested in the crowds, collections and fans after becoming a teenager

4. I am not the moderator of Kamalhassanfanclub. Much as I want to start an Efans club, I do not have the time, but would definitely like to start one soon
5. You are good :-) .... I dont think even the members of the Kamalhassanfanclub looked at it yet. As I said I have been a fan for a long time. In fact I can give you more facts about Rajini (movies, box office, theatre releases etc) as well than any of the fans of Rajini in this forum. But everything takes time for I do not have access to my records as I am too far away from home
