I believe, 'gOdhumai Ravaa' (is it also called 'sambaa gOdhumai' ??) upmaa is a good tiffin for diabetic patients !!

What Venky had suggested was really good. You can also make Godhumai ravai kanji (wheat rava porridge ) - ofcourse without sugar.
Also I would like to give one more suggestion - that I remember of reading somewhere an article about Chyavan Prash - though it is very good it is not meant for people with diabetes - because it has got many herbs which has bitter or sour tastes hence sweet taste has been added to that.

I understand that a diabetic person can have any breakfast, lunch and dinner he wants as long as he/she drinks bitterguard (pavakkai) juice first thing in the morning.This is only what I heard and whoever is doing this, please make sure you check your blood sugar and consult a doctor before and after experimenting this.
Bitterguard (Pavakkai) juice - If he/she can manage it, they are free to eat anything they like or want. I believe bitterguard (Pavakkai) is the best medicine for sugar.

I don't thing anyone sell pavakai juice in its juice form. We may have to make it buying pavakai ourselves.

The Best medicine for diabetic patients is 'arukam pul'. Doctors (sidhdhaa) recommend arukam pul in powder or juice form.

I heard from someone saying "Uzhutham kanji" is rich in minerals and good source of calcium and even Ragi is good for diabetic patients.Take more greens & vegetables rather than rice."Naval Pazha kottai" powder controls blood sugar.U can get this powder in some general shop in india.Vilvam kesayam is also recommended.

I live in the US and do not have access to information on calorie counts and other diabetis - related characteristics of Indian food - rice, chappathi,idli, dosai, various vegetables, spices etc. Any info or lead will be appreciated.
