vj,
Again you have a unique way with titles, this time I got it. I liked the parallel between sun and moon and the unfavorable hot and cold elements on earth.
gem,
I love the language and style you're employing, it stands alone among the other Thamizh poems and yet it complements them by being on the same wavelength. Bommalaattam was beautifully understated and the disillusioned Bharathiyaresque song rages under the smooth exterior. Your response to others' poems is an art in itself. Welcome to our poetry dugout.
Kanchana,
You're really in the zone these days, I don't want to say much more and jinx it. Vidaiperuthal works on the obviously splendid surface level, but the last hook, a play on words about taking the last breath was poignant.
Reka,
Vaanavil glows like the topic itself and is just as rare. Whenever you revisit us, it's like you never left us. That's quite a staying power you have with us.
Gokul,
"muppathaayirampaerabaththa ozhungudan"wowed me. Any artificial intrusion among nature paerabaththamthaan. Your last poem is excellently constructed in its juxtaposition of the face with the inner beast.

How many things in this world would be this fascinating even when turned upside down! That was a great vision. I liked the rivers flowing in mid-air that would surely be something to see.

sensations
candle flames
project
on the walls
the rise and fall
of saddle-stitched bodies
as the inaudible performance
of room-wide cymbals
the moat's ablaze
as the oar ignites
with every tug
desire speaks
in sounds of wounds
as minds liken the sensation
to earthly things. . .
deep cello echoing along
the columns of a castle
a long necked rose
learning
a lover's bare back
distant coo
of trains over
a bridge
firecrackers blossoming
the new moon sky
aroma
of jasmine
loosing itself
to the breeze
a generous splash of primary
colors over abandoned
rusty crevices
a flock of doves
shooting
out of an abandoned
warehouse window
a deep bite into a tender
sugar cane
followed by
the teary spice
of a hot chili
pleasure and pain
play hide and seek
alleviation of burden or
amputation of limbs
if we were to go
by their faces
both
would be the answer

Hi,
I read through this whole thread over the past two weeks. It is way cool to have a bilingual thread like this.
Udhaya,
Each of your poems is a gem. Clever observations from the mundane. The twists and turns in each poem made reading feel like a rich treasure hunt for me. I found it hard to pick a favourite since all turned out to be flawless.
Kanchana,
Your mastery over both the languages is very impressive. You have covered a vast range of topics with consummate skill:- from rustic innocence to Nature to thought pieces to free spirit to wicked sensuality. I loved the tender visualisation of Nature which all your pieces share.
Gokul,
Your poems are so abstract and express such pain. I needed to read some twice but that made it even more interesting. I was very struck by the surrealism in "Azhivu".
vj and Nalini,
What I saw of your works, I like. They are crisp and zingy.
Now, I cannot compare to the master poets above but here's my attempt:-
A TWINKLE IN THE 'EYE'
blue skies outside
the crystal clear window
though a cardboard prop
through the magic eye
a heavenly haven
for free birds
stairways
leading to mid-air
and at times
to rooms
with walls
made of imagination
beautiful people
dahlin'
liposuction
lifting up and
tucking in
miracles
the rest is
just Victoria's Secret
the oily black lens
sprinkles
its golden dust
camouflaging
reality
if there's really one
as the camera
veers around
in slow motion
to witness
perjury
beyond prosecution.
