Satya,
I tried to express, though for the current moment, among the 'nAthaSvarangkaLin oththu oothalkaL & thALanngkaL,' 'thavilkaL' are considered as dark horses, the future may have different opinion for 'thavilkaL.'
(As you may know) In George Lucas' Star Wars, Anakin Skywalker is a good character in the beginning with good intentions, but (will) become Darth Vader, one of the most terribly feared and hated character.
I still wonder, WHY and by WHOM. And, what happened to the characters that pushed him to and molded him as such opposite extreme he never wished.
Sad, but true, in every society, including the cyber one, the real dark horses never get identified and vilified, but the metamorphosis of Skywalkers to Darth Vaders is forced to happen and complained.
So born my 'thavilkaL & nAthasuram' with an optimistic twist that is different from the metamorphosis of Alakin Skywalker.

r,
your poem on star wars is interesting.
[I have a question: in your poems you use a lot of
unusual Tamil words...are those words in regular usage in Eelam or is it that you happen to be having such a rich diction? ]
I watched that movie too. I am not big into sci-fi type movies; I actually find pure star-trek-type gadget-oriented movies too dry. I like Spielbergian sci-fis with a lot of human emotional touch and having simple but powerful philosophical themes (Jurassic Park: arrogance of human science disregarding chaos).
Anyway, what is this "drath vaders in cyberspace" thing? :-) Certainly interested in hearing about that. :-))

Chandra,
I also do not find myself among the Star Wars fans. Ironically, since there might be a little human(!) touch on ' Skywalker becoming Darth varder,' and the film on his move to the darker site is yet to come, I tried to give my guess from my four year cyber space experiences. That's all.
S.berg's 'Close encounter of the thrid kind' and Kubrik's '2000 Od.' was and is one of my favorites. However, I did not like the Carl Saganic confused fantasy, 'Contact.'
Then, I have to confess that in late 70's, I liked Star Wars Original.
On "drath vaders in cyberspace" ....
There are plenty of them I guess (according to The Dark Force and its Darth-Moul-Henchmen, Darth Caders club includes myself;-))).
I'm just kidding.:-))
Regarding, tamil words, I do not know which the unusual ones are.
but for sure, mOnam is used for maunam.

Ramji: Yes the poem is in a loose and close to prose style. Should I have edited it more?
Sathiya,Chanakya: Thanks.
R: I liked the way "gnaayiRRukkizamai" ended.
especially "kazivirakkam aRaiyaagum..".

aruLarasan,
in many ways,
a Human's strength > That of a germ
(and vice versa is also true, otherwise)
since, the magnitudes are inequivalent.

vj,
Your "Utopian" has beginner poet written all over it, we've all been through that stage of course, I can't share mine, I've torn them to shreds. As with all beginner poets, you have constructed each line as if it stands on its own leg without lending relevance or continuity to the rest of the poem. A simple way to gauge the clunkers in this poem is to read it loud; doing this you'll find that the flow isn't smooth or coherent. Despite being a novice then, your writing already showed promise in these lines:
Moon in full naked glory
Waves dance, puppet-like, to her pull
Still, your latest work shows so much more growth because you're thinking in terms of ideas and not just words and sentences.
Gokul,
Your Orlando beach poem captures an experience and conveys it with straightforward poetry, poetry without grandiose eloquence, ahh, such a rarity these days. I admired the beauty of the following lines:
sila neerpparavaigal uyaravezhundhu
maegamattra neela nettrikku
avvappozhuthu vellaip
pottittuk kondirundhathu
. . .
alaigalil
than mudhukai nanaiththa
kaatrin azhaippai thatta mudiyavillai
r,
It took a few reads and your notes to get all your poetry but I enjoyed the diction and style a whole lot. My favorite expressions were
kaattrai izuththu uyirppathu oothal
kaattraip pudaiththu silirppathu maelam (from "Star Wars/Thavil" poem)
Your other two poems were hard reads for me so I gave up.
chanakya,
I liked the one about yemaloagam and the one about kalappadap paal.

love's worth
the need seed
sprouts inside
sending the message
in currents of passion
rationale takes a hit
as the blood is headed
south
desire manifests itself
in gasps and touches
while the gravy train
is ready to launch
as breathing
pulse and heart rate
subside
the body roof is leaking wet
after blood realigns
inside and the head is back
to thinking
words overtake
actions
and that feeling you have
for the other then
yes, that exact feeling
that's the net worth of your
love removed
of all
its accessories
