Metal is pure and talented music, but it is also more than that. Its expression of emotions from your heart and soul, and can be if what is said is what is meant from deep down. If your like kittie on the other hand and your dad writes all your songs for you then it becomes pure, unadulterated b*ll sh*t.

i was reading that people think that there is a direct link between teenage suicide and heavy metal music, therefore they are saying is that this music is a factor in what makes teenagers commit suicide, the supposed evidence for this is that when they carried out a questionnaire, the people who were most likely to commit suicide were also the ones who enjoyed heavy metal music.
what i want to say is that people who listen to this music are generally people who have had bad upbringings, maybe people who were bullied at school, and they listen to heavy metal as a release of emotion. this release of emotion is crucial, otherwise these people will become introverted. heavy metal music also provides almost an underground group of people who stick together, people who are all into the same sort of alternative music and this provides a haven for these people. Without heavy metal and alernative music groups there would not be a haven for these people.
what i am saying is that metal is not a CAUSE of teenage suicide - its just something that people who are ALREADY maybe suicidal will listen to.
if anything this music will help these people to release there emotions, and also as i just mentioned will also provide a feeling of belonging with other fans of the same music.
this music is helping people, not driving them to bad things. please email me with what you think about my comments, i have been researching this subject alot, and none of the anti-metal groups have ever managed to put forward a worthwhile argument, im a very objective person, i listen to other peoples ideas. i am myself a 17 year old metal fan.

What is wrong with wrong with all these people? Heavy metal music is just a sub-genre of music like any other. Only the subject matter may be disturbing to all those people out there who wish to ignore things that are real, these real things are commonly known as life. (to quote from the Offspring-Ixnay on the Homber disclaimer) What music is, is the expression of the deepest truths of our souls. Even if an artist creates something with the sole purpose of commercial success, if someone can connect with it, that's great. Studies show that people who are suicidal are more likely to listen to heavy metal. Well if you've been dumped by someone I bet you'll either listen to sappy heartbreak songs or really angry ones. It's not neccessarily the music that makes you feel the way you do, it is more likely only a reflection of what you feel. What heavy metal can do is create a type of release, not a cure mind you, for the anguish, pain, or despair an individual may feel at a certain point in their life. Feelings like this can last years, and never seem to end. What heavy metal music provides is a medium through which one can express these feelings. It may also help to foster a feeling of belonging to such a disenfranchised individual. Without a means to express said emotions, such as heavy metal music, if anything, the suicide rate should increase.
Now for a personal reflection, I listen to hardcore metal. I have for years, and I'm 18, and all that I have said in the above is the absolute truth for me. Recently I have started to move on with my life though, thanks to the help of another person. Metal just doesn't hold the same appeal for me it once did. I just couldn't find any happy metal songs :), and well I shouldn't. But I will always have a great respect for it, and be thankful for it for helping me through a difficult time in my life.

out of all artists, I am a true devoted metllica fan. All this crap about kids killing people because of music is nonsense. In the words of Pete Towsend of the Who, If a kid is a F*ckhead and kills people, then he was a f*ckhead to begin with and music doesnt change that. But also my opinion is garbage in, garbage out.

Do you actually know what is metal music?
I bet you never heard about things like Norwegian Double Bass Melodical Speed Metal?
When you use the words Heavy Metal or Metal, you'd better know what they actually mean. Things like Marilyn Manson (which I dislike, his music is ok, but his image is so stupid) have nothing to do with real metal music.
REAL METAL has plenty of forms (NO! Metal is NOT About AC/DC or Manson or Korn...), real metal goes from Heavy Metal classics like Iron Maiden to Melodical Death/Trash metal like Blind Guardian, from Black Metal like “Cradle Of Filth” to the Melodical Folk metal like Therion etc…. there are hundreds of real metal bands, some of them are so different from each other that you won’t be able to recognize it as metal on the first hearing. Lets just check out the classic old bands: Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin (Yep!), Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Scorpions, Helloween, Aria, Deep Purple etc etc.
Most of the metal music is about human emotions, human pain and human glory.
Metal music is about always being glorious in our lives, not by beating and killing others, but being strong and noble.
Metal is reflecting our world, and the battle that rages in it. Just like our world metal is offering us the both sides, we are the ones who have to choose one.

Manson, Bizkit, Kid Rock, Eminem, these guys are the heart and soul of what is real in todays society. They see something and they give their opinion of it, they dont give a f**k what people think and that is the way it should be.
