bamboo shoots is asparagus , and water chestnut is like peanut which can be eaten boiled and roasted form it is available in all markets and vegetable shops in abroad

Bamboo shoot is definitely different than Asparagus. Bamboo shoots are available in Chinese or oriental grocery stores.

Bamboo shoot is exactly that - bamboo shoot - the young bamboo that is just sprouting. It is used to make bamboo shoot curry or mix-fried with some other vegetables. But it is definitely not asparagus.
Water chestnut is shpaed like a pumkin but it is very small (the radius is probably abt 1-2 inches) with dark brown skin. You may boil it and peel off the skin before eating. It is popular among the chinese.
