Well well! let me think! alka came to the industry in 1980 and got her first filmfare award in 1988 for tehzaab. shreya got hers in the very first songs in Devdas ,or course with kavita ji. But she carries on in 2003 by winning her second award. so i feel that the asset which alka has...the sweet and melodious voice is fading away as sherya got the classical side of Kavita krishnamurty as well as the the sweetness voice of alka....so conclusion...sherya will eventually be more popular that alka which i guess is happening right now. i think that sherya is good and will get even better when she reach the age of alka...so people what do u people think? |

U r perfectly right! i'm quite sorry to say that alka ji's voice is turning hoarse...(but it suits rani mukerjee). i guess that's the consequence of overuse of alka ji in every movie. Yet, she's not that bad.

I don't think that shreya has got that sweetness as what lataji used to have it . Shreya's lower octave voice is not quite worth it.Alka ji and shreya ji are both equal .

For that matter, Shreya can't sing in very high pitch either. I remember when I heard the song Tu hi bata zindagi.. from Armaan; I was shocked to hear Shreya's voice in that, she sounds horrible!!!

I think that througout the generations there are many singers that are almost mirror images of each other from generation to generation lemme give you an example Muhammad Rafi and Sonu Nigman have almost the same voice even though the were in two different generations. In the same way I think that Shreya is like a mirror generationf on Alka and Lata as well. BUT!! if it were up to me to decide I just met Shreya a few days ago and I must say her voices is much better then many of the other female voices I have heard. In fact when she sings it almost feels like she's not trying much unlike many of the other singers of our time. So I say look out Bollywood because here comes the next legend Shreya Ghoshal

i think ALKA YAGNIKJI is the best. she have done alot for the music industry, she have brought about many changes in music. her contributin to the new music have been accepted by all. she is the one whom people follow as role model in indian music. it would be very rude if she is criticised with bad words . shreya is just a new comer and i bet she has yet to learn many things from alka's music.
IF I WAS ONE OF THE MUSIC DIRECTOR I WOULD CHOOSE ALKA TO BE THE LEADING SINGER IN ALL SONGS.IAM SAYING THIS NOT JUST BECAUSE IAM BIG FAN OF ALKAJI BUT DUE TO RESPECT AND LOVE AND APPRECIATION OF HER EXCELLENT SUPPORT IN THE MUSIC WORLD. I WISH ALKAJI ALL THE LUCK AND WOULD REALLY BE GLAD IF ALKA CONTINUOUS RECORDING OF TASTEFUL MUSIC ARE RELEASED.

what about kavitaji then? i think the quality of music is from her and alka is for the common and ordinary love songs.....
alka won 6 filmfare awards and kavita 4 so when u compare the amount of songs alka is singing..to kavitaji..alka has done nothing extraordinary?

ALKA IS EXTRAORDINARY THATS WHY SHE IS BEEN THE BECOMING THE VICTIM OF CONTINUOUS AWARD WINNING. HER SONGS HERE IN FIJI IS APPRECIATED BY ALL AND WE BELIEVE THAT SHE IS ONE OF THE UNIQUE AND VERSATILE SINGER INDIA HAS GOT LIKE ASHA AND LATA. SHE IS PRIDE OF INDIA. i feel shreya is a refreshing change after alka . Alka is no doubt excellent but shreya's voice is sweeter.

sherya is good then alka . sherya voice is good bcz it got a nice taste and it is a fresh change in bollywood and i am in pak so i love sherya voice she got something in ur oice which taractme so alka voice is good but not as sherya . alka voice is like aperfect women but sherya voice is like a girl which is the mailpoit of a film

its amazing that shreya has achieved this much name and fame in today's competing hindi music industry . after listening the songs of jism in the sweet voice of shreya no one can control himself fron listenig her voice again and again .so in my opinion she is going to be the female voice of the new generationn actressses .
