It certainly does, but it also raises a question.
There is no doubt that the Brinda-Mukta rendition begins with what you point out is the actually the anupallavi line ! Perhaps Lakshman can sort it out.

Vinod id quite correct about the Kshetragna pada. Here is part of the song from SSP.

Sometimes songs are started with the anupallavi and them moves on to the pallavi.
Examples are: Tyagaraja's Athana song starts with Balakanakamaya... which is actually the anupallavi. Ela ni dayaradu is the pallavi. So is the Kharaharapriya song Chitraratnamaya sheshsdalpamandu... which is the anupallavi and Mitri bhagyame bhagyamu which is the pallavi.

Many people start the saramathi mOKshamu galadA

Another krithis is "sallare" in Ahiri . People usually start this with Sommaina....the anupallavi

I tried making out the lyrics to the following song from Sowmya's concert cybercast at eshakti.com. Many of the words seem unclear. Was wondering whether anyone could proofread them. Also, it will be interesting to know the name of the composer of the song.

Glad I was of some help! When padams are used in in Bharatanatyam, often the anupallavi is sung first with the pallavi as a punchline because the story line and depiction flows better.
In the case of the "vadaraka" padam, the heroine talks to her friend and I think the approximate translation of the anupallavi talks about how she and her lord have grown apart and times have changed. The pallavi I believe says (to the friend)"Stop this unnecessary talk, and go tell him that I dont want to see him."[him refers to the repentant lord of hers who is back to see her]
well..effectively the heroine is saying [when the anupallavi is sung first] that:
That was a different time
My Lord and I have grown apart
Stop this unecessary talk
Go tell him that I dont want to see him.
The context is set with the friend coming to the heroine with the news that her repentant lord has arrived. In this padam, the mood is not anger but a quiet realization that she (the heroine) does not want to be with her lord again.
Makes "sense" and a good flow when visualized.
Of course, please accept my apologies in advance for any faulty translation!! I repeat what I have heard/observed!!

Vinod, I must confess a new appreciation for the Brinda-Mukta rendition of the Ksetragna Kamboji, after reading your careful explanation. Thanks very much.
While there is no doubt that 'naattuvanaars' and other dance experts , in their wisdom, choose suitable padams to depict, the reverse effect of dance on the Carnatic vaaggeyakaaras is not often stressed. Of course one may argue that Tyagaraja, MD etc. were in a perpetual trance, a dance of the spirit.
MDR is a recent example who is supposed to have spent much time at Kalaksetra and his interpretations are always satisfying. I understand for example that MDikshitar may have had dance influence in Raamanaatham Bhajeham-Pantuvarali and possibly also Subramanyaaya Namaste.
It is not known what specific dance components this Ksetragna may have professed (if any), but clearly more recent skilled padam composers like DharmapuriS were steeped in those aspects.

Lots of Kshetragna padams are used in dance. They are usually considered pretty "heavy" in the sense that they offer a lot of scope for creative improvisation. Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan teaches a LOT of them to her students.
I am actually looking for a recording of the "Rama Rama" composition in Bhairavi by Kshetragna. It apparently has a rather different context since it could be (or in fact IS) from the viewpoint of Krishna (who is seperated from his beloved) who wonders how Rama could bear the seperation from Sita when she was abducted and taken to the Ashoka Vanam. This is again hearsay - I am not absolutely sure. But regardless, I would appreciate if someone can either send me a recording or direct me to some commercial recording or website that might have a recording of this piece.

There is a commercial recording of the Kshetragna pada Rama rama in Bhairavi by Nirmala Sundararajan and Subhashini Parthasarathy. It is a Sangeetha cassette # 6ECDB 273. It contains Javalis and padas.

Anyway, while I am here I thought I will post another query. It is about Swathi Thirunaal's Ragamalika-Rupakam composition - "Pannagendra Shayana."
I have the lyrics and a recording of it. What I am looking for is a translation [as detailed as possible, but a rough estimate for startes will also do] of the composition.
I will greatly appreciate any help with it.

Addendum to previous post:
All that I do know about the meaning of the composition is that it consists of eight Charanams, which desscribes,in order, the different moods of the forlorn Nayika beginning from dusk to dawn. That sort of explains why it ends in Bhoopalam I guess. Hope that helps
