It is said that Hindusthani music is shruti-oriented and Karnatak music is krithi-oriented. Is it in this direction that there are different types of compositions to be rendered vocally and on any musical instrument in Hindusthani music?
Any reason?

Why should krithi and sruthi be mutually exclusive ? SHows the ignorance of Surya Prasad. His reviews in the Hindu ( Bangalore ) are full of mistakes. He uses some titles in a democratic forum like this.

This is really nonsense on the part of Lakshmi.
I meant nothing in starting this topic nor do I boast off anything on my part.
Lakshmi's reaction seems to be motivated and in no way connected with the topic raised.
If she has any personal grievance against me this is not the right forum to air it.
I need not say who is 'ignorant'and 'full of mistakes'.

condemn such pseudo 'Lakshmis' who are always active in destroying the character and dignity of a forum like this.
'Lakshmi's' act clearly shows cowardice and hatred.
Damn such creatures.

It does not require a Sherlock Holmes to see that the IP addresses in brackets of ranga/rangamari and the first post in thread of Mr Suryaprasad are the same. Mr Suryaprasad, ironically, your own words "destroying the character and dignity of a forum like this", "cowardice" etc fit your last post the best, since you have posted under a disguise and used words such as "damn".
Are you seriously wanting to continue discussion on the thread you have started ? You have not clarified Lakshmi's query how krithi and sruthi are mutually exclusive. Do you mean to say that singing krithi and singing in sruthi are different ? I always thought krithis should be sung in sruthi ! If you had wanted a serious discussion, you would have clarified your question by rewording it appropriately. It is clear that comparing krithi and sruthi is like comparing apples and oranges.
I also wish Lakshmi had been less severe in her post, but, as a long time serious music rasika in Bangalore, I too have seen that the reviews in Hindu - Bangalore by Mr Suryaprasad are all template based and cut and paste work. They contain technical mistakes. All this ignorance is pardonable, but the moment he uses words like "damn", I pity Hindu - Bangalore for having such a critic.

Mr Suryaprasad, I mean no malice. Don't get me wrong. Mr Ramanathan, I agree I should not have been so severe. Mr Suryaprasad : Please avoid using expletives.
Would love to have a clarification as to what you meant in your initial question that started this thread.
