Indian Classical music is going through a difficult period. It is controled by the group of musicians. They are getting known and populer day by day but, there are so many, trimendus talented young musicians, who are being suppresed and made victims of dirty politics. Not getting proper oppertunity they are loosing faith and getting frustrated. Is this the right way ? Is it not damaging our Indian classical music's future ? Is'nt it making this music stay in certain hands and in certain groups ? Isn't music a universal emotion and not a property of a certain people ?

Does anyone know someone teaches tabla in the Washington state U.S.A. near the area of Seattle or Tacoma. If anyone has an idea or shed some light, I would greatly appreciate it. Since I don’t know much about playing tabla, I would appreciate anyone with some skill in this area that is willing to teach what they know would be welcomed.

One of my friends in Nagpur is a great Table Player and teaches/performs there. He had learnt advanced Tabla from Late Ustad Allah Rakha himself and he plays really well. Anyone who could help arrange a concert or a chance to work abroad (for him) may please let me know over my email ID. He isn't practising any other profession and would benfit if any such patronization comes by.

Short Biography
Mr.Rajat Kumar Behera, aged twenty-nine year, is born and brought up at Ashapali, Christian Street, Sambalpur (India). He achieved his B.Mus. (Bachelor in Music) degree in Tabla from Visva Bharati University (Santiniketan, West Bengal) in 1995. Subsequently, he pursued his post-graduate degree in Music and completed M.Mus. (Master in Music) in Tabla from the same University in 1998. During his eight years training in Santiniketan, he was under the direct guidance and tutelage of Pandit Manas Dasgupta and Pandit Shymal Bose, two of the legendary figures in the field. He has also qualified himself as a “B-high” grade artist both in light music (Instrument Tabla) in 1996 and in classical music (Instrument Tabla) in 1999 for All India Radio (AIR).
He was awarded the second place in Intra-University Cultural Competition, 1995, organised by Visva Bharati Chhatra Sammilani (the Students’ Union of Visva Bharati University).
Presently he is a reputed Tabla player and accompanist for musical events in AIR and Door Darsan (TV). Mr.Behera has also participated as a Tabla artist in the recording of several music cassettes. He is a well-known stage artist of western Orissa.
He has established a small institute, “Laya Lahar” for imparting training to young people of the locality. Mr.Behera can read, write and speak English fluently. He is now looking for a creative engagement at the international level.
