I just heard Kadri's aradhana concert at Thiruvaiyaru in 97. He was accompanied by Kanyakumari on the violin, Zakhir Hussain on tabla, Haridhwaramangalam on thavil, TH Vinayakaram on Ghatam and someone on kanjira and mohursing
He started with Dorakunaa in Bilahari, then pariyachakama in Vachaspathy, and the main piece Samaja vara gamana in Hindolam. This is the best instrumental rendition of Samaja vara gamana I have ever heard. The raga alapana by both Kadri and Kanyakumari together and Kanyakumari alone was inexplicably well done. The krithi was well rendered and that was followed by thani avarthanam the jewel in the crown. I just got 5 volumes of the Aradhana excerpts from a friend in Denmark. \

By the term "music" here, do you again mean generic music like in the previous para of yours? Aren't we all along discussing a specific system of music. i.e.. what is often called "carnatic music" ?

Please read my post to which you have responded thusly. I was not refering to generic music. I was refering to Indian music.. I'm saying that there existed a music system in India. With the invasion of Persians it got pushed southwards and got preserved in South India and we started calling that Carnatic music.
BTW, I infer that by your saying Carnatic music is tamizh music, you are saying Indian music as a whole was given birth by tamizh music. Please clarify if that is what you mean.
Regarding Upanishads:- I was bringing in vEdas and Upanishads in our discussions to show that ancient sanskrit works that are as old as, if not older, than tholkApiyam had references to sapta swarams. Regardless of whether Sankara called it original or not they are as old as, if not older than cilambu.
