some 20 years back i happened to hear in All India Radio a composition by St. Thyagaraja which contains,"selayetilo neeru" the meening of which is as follows:when water is flowing in a stream you can arrest it momentarily by keeping your arm across it, but after a while it will over flow. then you will realise that your exercise is futile. Thus is the life. Can anybody give me the full text of the composition and raga,thala?

I am not very sure that the kruthi "selayetilo neeru is composed by Thyagaraja.But by the meening given one could easily presume it should be by Thyagaraja. possibly, selayetilo neeru may not be the starting word;it may come in the middle of the composition.please bear with me

I recently accquired a recording of of a live concert of Sanjay Subramaniam in Toronto - I don't remember the date, but it's from a long while ago. He has sung a wonderful viruttam on Lord Shiva starting with the words "Maan aada, Mazhu aada, Madhi aada, Nadhi aada..." in ragamalika followed by the song "Aadiya Paadhathai" in Suruti - does anyone know where that viruttam is from and where I could get the lyrics? Perhaps someone could post it along with the "Aaadiya Paadathai"song? who is the composer? Thanks so much - Vinod.
