Kalavati is a derivative of Khammaj thaat and it drops both re amd ma. Svaras used are: tivra ga, tivra dha and komal ni. ni is weak in aroha. Here dha sa is used. Vadi is pa and samvadi is sa. It is sung before midnight.
Can't tell you if the film song you mention is in this raga.
