I am a fan of Yesudas and I would like to know why he is not considered as a complete classical singer. Will someone agree that he has the uncanny ability to mix caranatic music with Hindustani music, if that is the case then can we conclude that he deserves a special mention in classical music. |

I dont know with whom in the "industry" you have made comparisions with and which "industry" you are talking about. You may or may not be right about some of the issues and arguements you have raised. But one thing about Yesudas certainly holds good. He does not use the kind of filthy language that you have managed to use. This is a humble request. Please base your arguements around issues relating to people rather than the people themselves and please do not use such language in a forum like this. Thanks.

Who is this yesudas?
Is he a politician of kerala.I want to know.
According to me nowhere yesudas was singing well.He behaves like a politician in music and makes music a business.
Can yesudas ever sing better than the king of music jeyachandran?How can he?
In the young age he couldn't how come in old age?

his old mallu songs like thamasamenthe varuvan...
oru pushpam maathramen...etc.. are too good.. i cant even express how sweet they are.. it expresses the emotion in its fullest form..

yesudas has a good voice but there is more than just having a voice you are born with. Also popularity does not make you a great singer. Britney Spears is popular btu she is by no means a great singer

No doubt Yesudas is a classical master. His melodious voice soothe the burning hearts. He is a trained classical expert and one should not doubt his qualities. He has golden voice and I am sure everyone having knowledge in carnatic would agree.

Sri.K.J. Yesudass is a living legend in music. There is no singer in India who has performed in both play back popular music and classical music equally well like him. One more thing to mention- there is no more singer from other Religions who had sung on Hindu Gods and Goddess other than Yesudass being a Christian. Music is God's gift and he has it to its full.

Yesudas is one of those rare artistes whose enormous reserve of talent has been explored and utilized to the maximum for the benefit of music. Nevertheless, this statement holds true only for the lighter varieties of music. Noted musicologist Raghav R. Menon once said, "Yesudas would have been able to synthesize the Hindustani and Carnatic systems of music had he not been lured by the glitter of film music." When one listens to some of the earlier recordings of Yesudas' brilliant perfomances, the anguish of a great promise that was never fulfilled grips you. That deep, full-throated, robust voice which transports the listener to the world of supreme melody is like a dream! We are missing that magic, where has that gone?

You have very rightly said. Dr Yesudas is one of those rare artists. His potential as a vocalist is unmathced and actually, only 60% of his potential has been exhibited in all his music career. I could feel this. He has a lot more potential but didnt have the time and oppurtunity to exhibit his remaining 40% due to restricitons in market demands etc..
If one observed deeply, he can notice, feel and realise Yesudas's actual potential...
I have heard numerous other musicians perform but none like Dr Yesudas. I am yet to see one that has the potential of Yesudas.
He is truely a legend of music vocal world!

Yesudas is a Divinely Singer par from excellence. His voice will go even through Stone like mind and melt it just like that - particularly his Ayyappan song "Harivarasanam" is a wonderful Gift to the Mankind.

Every year Jan 10 Yesudas spends whole day at
Mookambi temple Kollur South Karnataka. They treat Yesudas very well. Hundreds of parents throng there to initiate their children to start Vidyarambham
by him. He patiently does that. But in Kerala temples He is viewed as alas! not a man.Do you believe that God's support is there for that?
