Is there a Karnatak equivalent of Hindustani Rageshri? Kindly give the scale. How
about the Hindustani equivalents of Ragam Kurinji, NattaKurinji etc. Kindly give the scales (aroh/ avroh, chalanam) etc.
Finally, is "Kurinji" same as "Yadukula Kambhoji"?
Thank you very much.

Rageshri does not have an exact equivalent in Karnatak music. Closest ragas are Ravichandrika with the notes: S R G M D Nk D S; S Nk D M G R S.
and Natakuranji which has two different aroha/avaroha
1. S R G M D Nk S; S Nk D M G S
2. S R G M Nk D Nk P D Nk S; S Nk D M G M P M G R S
Yadukulakambhoji is a janya of Harikambhoji (Khamaj thaat) and has the following scale.
S R M P D S; S Nk D P M G R S. There is no equivalent Hindustani raga for this.

Is Kurinji in the same as "Yadu Kula Kambhoji" (Y2K) ?
Is MayamalavaGoula sung with an Andolan for
komal Re and Komal Dha like in Hindustani
Bhairav?
Thanks

Kurinji is derived from Shankarabharana mela (Bilaval thaat) and has the following scale:
S N S R G M P D: D P M G R N S. As you can see it is quite different from Yadukulakambhoji.
Though Mayamalavagaula uses the same notes as hindustani Bhairav, Vadi-Samvadi svaras are not utilized in Karnatak music. Sometimes certain notes are prominent and they are called jiva svaras.
