As far as I know, Deshadi was originally rendered with a three beats and a wave, but today, it is used as Adi tALA which begins after the first beat.

Could anyone post the lyrics and notation of the varnam in Behag, Adi Tala, with the pallavi begining with "Vanajaksha" - I do not know who the composer is? I know it will be a pain to format the test for aligning the swaras with the tala and all that in a post here - just the swaras and sahitya should do - I can try and get a recording and figure that out.
