Can any one shed more light on Irayimman Thampi? I know he was one of the composers in Swati Thirunal's court and his most famous kriti is Karuna Cheivan Enthu Thamasm, popularised by Chembai. What are his other kritis? How many works has he got to his credit? Why did Chembai change the Raga of Karuna Cheivan from Sree to Yadukula Kamboji whenever he sang? Is there an anthology of Thampi's kritis? Are all his compositions in Malayalam? |

Who can forget the beautiful lullaby: "Omana ThingaL kiTAvo nalla komaLa thamara poovo" composeed by none other than Iriyamman Thampi, as an appropriate cradle song for the newborn baby, the Maharaja Swathi Tirunal.

He belonged to Kanyakumari district and composed the literary gems like "AATTAKATHA" and "DHAKSHAYAGAM".
Never forget him as you grew as a baby hearing his song, "Omana Thingal Kidavo".

Are anthologised songs of Thampi available on cassettes? I've heard Neyyattinkara Vasudevan has sung quite a few of his songs. Any more info?

I am sorry I do not know of any recodings of Iraiyimman Thampi's songs by Neyyatinkara Vasudevan or anyone else.

Irayimman Thampi's Malayalam Lullaby sung by my mother, is quite familiar for me. Though I know some of the lines of the lullaby, wolld like to get the whole lullaby.
