The amount of voilence that happening among indian youths are increasing tremendously and the amount of education preference among them is decreasing. They are easily influenced by indian media's which regularly promotes movies which contains extreme voilence in them. And they usually choose to end thier studies at G.C.E level or maybe lower. Youths are the one who is going to put the standing of our society and they are the one who going to decide where we will stand. Are we forever going to be third class citizens?Did our ancestors gained us freedom to waste it?What method of life that our people think enough for them..cukup makan? I'm not condemning our people, our people have the brains and brawns but why waste it?

I feel real disgust when i read some of the responses on this website. First of all, the English used by majority of the respondents is simply atrocious, such poor grammar! Is this the quality if English of the Malaysian Tamilians today? Secondly, what is this nonsense about blaming the Telugus as gangsters? Who the hell said that the Tamilians in Malaysia are Telugus (Kaling's or whatever)? Please stop pointing fingers at others for the deterioration of Malaysian Tamilians attitude and behaviour! Some responses are mature and quite a good read, but for those racists out there, stop doing it in public, it shows your low mentality and ignorance!

vanakam.......
basically our "few indian youths generation" caused just another big disappointment n problemmatics.they can be easly brainwashed n controlled by the troublemakers.majorities are school dropouts n they can't even think n decides themselves.well i m very sure that we have observed things happening around n i m sorry to say that our youth is just wasting n rubbishing their future undertakings.they can be in the right track if they r willing to make changes which can leads them to promising n positive living style.they can do better things if they r wanted to learn.their attitudes n mentally are low down shows a very bad performance.as a human beings we should thanking GOD for HIS blessing love n caring.so we should appreciate it n be positive thinking n live a good n better living.atleast do something good then nothing great.think for your selves.

Hi, fellow forumers and M'sians. I've been reading your responses so far. Apart from sharing our many misgivings on what's going wrong with our youth, we rarely bother to find out what's really eating them.
Indians as a whole are divided by two different groups. One is the middle-class and upper. The other is the lower income group. Though most of our problematic youth come from the lower group, it doesn't mean the rest are not equally guilty!
First of all, how many of us really take the trouble to get to know each other as fellow Indians? The Upper and Middle classes have this snooty perception that what affects the rest of us, is not their problem!! I'm sure many of us are guilty of this fact but rarely admit to it. An example I can easily quote is Tamil Schools. For those of us from national schools, either BM medium or English medium, how many of us really take the trouble to peek into the problems besetting them? We constantly dismiss them as sub-standard schools that should be closed down!! A case in point is our own Minister Kayveas who was rooting for it, despite feeble excuses of denial later on!!
Before going on, I would like to know more feedback from other guilty Indians on the above point? Would appreciate a healthy debate ...

Hi guys.....Nice to read the comments about the Malaysian Tamil youths. The frist thing is discipline. In M,sia.. there is no parents control. No youth respect their parents. Very few.. Mostly they are inlfuenced by their frineds (Kuttali...) so called Kutallies are not edcated at all... they want to just imitate the movies.. As a summary..No parenst control.. no proper education.. and their surroundings (Kuttalies)... and the movies are the factors which spoils M'sian youths..

Hello Guys, take a break! The Indians are not the only gangsters in Malaysia. The Chinese and Malays (Indons) are equally bad if not worse. The problem with Indians is that most of them are the leftovers of a society that spent a generation and more in the rubber estates. Now with the price of rubber being weak and the rubber estates being turned into oil palm, housing or industrial estates, these Indians are displaced, particulary the young ones. Deprived of an economic activity and being unable to earn a living, it is not a big mistery for them to turn to crime. A nation that built its wealth from their blood and sweat is unable to give them alternative employment opportunities after becoming a successful and wealthy country. Why blame the Indians? They are no longer second class citizens. They are the new underclass, an economic term very much in vogue today! Blame the society. What opportunity has these misplaced Indians have today? They too have a right to good life just like anybody else. But who is going to give them? So, they do the next thing that comes naturally to them: fight for their survival or otherwise known as gangsterism! The politicians just talk but never walk their talk!!

Yeah, its a pretty depressing picture for our society as a whole. That's why on my part, I do not turn away from our youth if I feel I could do something for them. I'm a housewife with education,so I asked myself what could I do to elevate our people's despondency? So the past few years, I've been volunteering my time teaching English to Tamil schoolchildren. It may not be much when compared to national statistics but we all have to start small somewhere.
There's so much of rage in our society that I worry for our young. For us to be treated like dirt, just leaves my nerves raw!! Why should we not be appreciated for our better qualities instead of being constantly picked on for some sorry excuse or other.
The first step, in my humble opinion, is that we should be more assertive not belligerent in a
pugnacious manner but forward our angst diplomatically and factually. For that a whole new change of attitude is necessary amongst our very own politicians. They have this grovelling attitude that says, "we're grateful for whatever crumbs you throw at us!" Things should be asked for as a right and not merely a privilege. We've earned our rights as citizens and contributors to the country's wealth. It's only right we're given our fair share without grudges from anyone.
The other is quite simply that whatever plans are made to help unfortunate Indians, it comes under the auspices of MIC. Half the time, the Indian publlic is not aware of what's going on when Indian politicians are busy manipulating funds for their own use!! Rumours are constantly rife, with so and so taking such and such, Maika is an example in point. Look at the recent fiasco at their AGM, transparency is constantly pushed aside for individual self-interest instead of genuine share-holders who've put in their life's savings in that company. Who should sit at the top echelon of management, more Malays!! How many Indians are there at the top of PNB? Have they stopped to ponder?
Non-Malays as a whole need more civil rights awareness before we could meander through the thick maze of Malaysian law. Only then something positive could be done for our youth. If they're all fruitfully occupied, crime would be greatly reduced, I tell you folks!!

I believe, proper tertiary education alone is not enough to cultivate decent Indian youths. Education is a must. However, It's all in the way they're groomed as a child. The lessons and experiences of a person as a child develops and manifests into what the person is. Genetics plays a part too.
But, plant the proper mentality in them, not just to study and study and study and end up being jobless like I am, even after M.Eng. Teach them to take risks in life (only when necessary). Greater risks fruits greater success. And, I am not a "lost hope" Indian. I am all out for it. I am going to be a successful person in career and life. Still figuring out on ways to help myself and others to be very successful. Eg Tony Fernandez.

That's the spirit we all should have in life, Inthiran.
Waiting for somebody up above to throw in the rope for you to climb up is a total nonsense.
When you have a strong foothold, u dont need another's hand to come up...
Get away from negativity and this includes ppl who exude negative vibes..
The time spent on whining & listening to whiners should be put to a better, fruitful use.

Yah, work smart, invest smart, study smart and for sure you will gain what you wanted. Our Indians are still shying away from various opportunities in hand currently. Recently, Unit Trust industries are blooming and there alot that we can gain from there but Indian's participation are low. This is due to earlier losses that most made when invested in the wrong channel. So, think about it and someone there can help.
