the first book i read was the hobbit from lord of the rings.. the beginning of the story went on and on.... it was sort of OK in the middle- but i didnt really enjoy it as much as i enjoyed harry potter. Note- im a teen... im the same age as harry-- its pretty fun to try experiencing the life of a teenage wizard... well- to me that is

Hey guys!!! I'm in Love with Harry Potter. I bought the books in summer 2003 at the recommedation of another great fan and a friend of mine and didn't start reading it till this year. I don't know what I was thinking, but I have finished 4 of the books and am starting on the Fifth book. I simply love them. Everytime I read I feel soo much apart of his world and JK Rowling is one of the best authors I think. It amazes me when I think of how she might have come up with such brilliant ideas for the novels (for one thing I don't think she got them from LOTR). My favourite has to be the 3rd book. I love reading about Harry's Qudditch matches, it sounds so exciting I haven't yet seen the movies, I'm very much looking forward to the matches. The 3rd movie is set to release in June 2004, I want sooo badly to see the match against the huffle puffs especially the part where the dementors descend on him. I also want to see Hermione slap Draco(what an evil little prick). Let me which one's your favourite.

Harry Potter series are junk and misleading our children. The undeserved media hype is responsible for selling of such trash literature which does more harm than good to the new generation.

oh please tell me you did not just say that. i am a fan of harry potter but not that big of one. however you can't go trashing it like that. you can say you don't like it, you don't like its ethics, you can say that you're some religious idiot who won't even allow gay marriage so you don't like witchcraft. but you can't trash harry potter like that. the harry potter series has inspired many young children to read. an imagination is necessary in life. it's what right-brained is. you can dismiss it, fine. you can say you don't agree with, fine. but what harm does it do? i'm asking you. anyone who hates harry potter for its ethics and witchcraft not those who didn't enjoy it.

I really don't understand why Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings blew up so much. They are the stupidest things ever made and I really don't understand why so many people love it and are devoted to it. It's so sad. I didn't say not to write and enjoy a book or a movie, but there's just TOO MUCH HYPE surronding it.

Lord Of The Rings is a classic. Harry Potter, whilst commercially amazing, will never be a classic.
LOTR was far-reaching for its time. It was actually narrated by Tolkien to his son at first before transcribed into a book. It is said that there were many allegories to WWII as JRR T had just come back from the war. Sauron is an evil we never see yet he permeates every aspect of Middle Earth life - that's how Tolkien saw Hitler.
